On Friday, Aug. 12, Governor Jay Nixon visited Macon for the ribbon cutting ceremony for a new Macon road that bears his name. Nixon Industrial Blvd. was made possible through an economic incentive package from the state of Missouri that included a $620,000 Community Development Block Grant to the city of Macon for infrastructure and nearly $136,000 in Enhanced Enterprise Zone tax credits to the three companies that are located on Nixon Blvd. The three businesses Economy Products, Yutz Agri Systems and Wyatt Enterprises will create 62 new jobs with a combined total capital investment of $2.5 million into the local economy. “I am very honored to have this road named after me,” said Gov. Nixon. The governor said that the expansion of local business are an important part of the recovery of the Missouri economy. “Small businesses such as these are what keeps the rural economy of Missouri growing,” said Nixon. Those attending the ceremony on Friday, were welcomed by Macon Mayor Dale Bagley. Also speaking were business owners John Yutz and Donny Wyatt. Macon County Economic Development Director spoke on behalf of Tim Watts of Economy Products who was out of town.
