The Macon Boy Scouts (pictured left) were among the hundreds of people who stood along Highway 63 Wednesday night in Macon to pay their respects to a Kirksville fallen soldier, and his family and friends, as they traveled south to the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery.
Private First Class Travis Wayne Noyes, 18, of Macon, graduated from boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif.
Jarod Womack, international agriculture instructor, requested approval of the Macon R-I Board of Education to proceed with plans for a trip with international agriculture class members to Australia in June 2011. Eight members of the class have expressed an interest in making the trip. The cost of the trip is estimated at approximately $5,000 each. Students will pay for the trip through fundraising activities and individual payments. There will be no cost to the district. Womack is working with the University of Queensland and Truman State University to offer college credit for the course. The board gave approval to the project.
