On Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at approximately 3 a.m., the Macon Police Department received an anonymous tip of possible drug activity taking place in the 200 block of East Briggs Drive within a motel room. With the information given and additional investigation, police were able to apply for and obtain a search warrant for the location. During the search warrant service, police detained two subjects inside of the room. The search of the premises resulted in officers locating packages of synthetic cannabinoids, prescription medications, marijuana, items used for distribution of illegal drugs and a large amount of cash. Police also discovered both subjects within the room had active arrest warrants. While being detained, one of the two subjects attempted to flee the area on foot, but was located a short distance away by another responding officer.
As a result, police arrested Kurt Bohonsky, 25, of Huntsville with one active arrest warrant and Cordova Sears, 24, of Salisbury with three active arrest warrants. Both were transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and were later taken to the Macon County Jail and placed on 24-hour hold. Arrest warrants were obtained for Bohonsky for possession of controlled substance with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia with bond being set at $21,000.00 cash only. Arrest warrants were also obtained for Sears for possession of controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest by fleeing with bond being set at $29,000.00 cash only.
