  • Community Child Development Center employees opened their doors Monday morning to an unpleasant surprise.
"The facility was flooded by a broken water pipe," said Director Tricia Knowles. "Water was in three classrooms, the kitchen, and the lobby/office area with the major damage occurring in the lobby area."
Because of the flooding, 62 children were without childcare.
"Since CCDC is a licensed and accredited program, there were no available facilities meeting all those regulations and requirements," said Knowles. "We had no choice but to close."
Due to the tremendous damage, CCDC will not reopen until Monday, December 16.
"The facility is such a mess," said Knowles. "But it could have been worse if someone would have gotten hurt."
