  • No. 4 ranked Moberly scored on each of their four first-half possessions, and the Spartans defense held Mexico to less than 110 total yards Friday en route to a 41-14 home football win on Senior Night.
The victory delivered Moberly (9-0, 5-0 NCMC) the 2013 North Central Missouri Conference championship, it's first since the 2007 season when the Spartans also went undefeated and would reach the Class 3 semifinals.
It also awarded Moberly home field advantage as the Class 4 District 6 second-seed when the first round of district playoffs gets underway Nov. 1. Depending on the outcome of MSHSAA's playoff point system, Moberly will host either Warrenton or St. Dominic. Helias is the top seed in this district and will host Marshall.
Moberly led 34-0 at the half and a running clock was started when the score went to 41-0 with 3:53 left in the third quarter. The Spartans inserted their jayvee and freshmen units to play the rest of the evening, and that is how Mexico managed to punch in their two touchdowns.
