  • It was a beautiful day for the Fork & Cork Festival held in downtown Macon on Saturday, Sept, 7. The 6th annual event was sponsored by the Mainstreet Macon Downtown Association with assistance from the Macon Area Chamber of Commerce.
"It also took a lot of community volunteers to put it all together," said MMDA President Leigh Simon.
The downtown area was filled with more than 30 booths including food, vendors, crafts and games.
After strolling the booths patrons could take a break and enjoy live musical entertainment throughout the day.
"We had an awesome turnout," said Simon. "The crowd slowed down a little as the temperatures rose in the afternoon, but picked back up again as things cooled down in the evening."
Proceeds from the Fork & Cork will go toward downtown revitalization and beautification of the downtown area.
"We will begin meeting soon to plan next year's Fork & Cork," said Simon.
