  • Billy Joe “Bill” Lent, 64, of Atlanta, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, in Atlanta.
    Bill was born on February 13, 1949, in Jamesport, MO, the son of Paul R. and Wilda Reed (Ross) Lent.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  Bill was united in marriage to Mary Ann Lee on August 29, 1970, in Jameson, MO.  He started working at the Macon R-1 School in 1978 and retired in 2005 as the vocational automotive mechanics instructor.  Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family.  In his younger years, he and Mary worked one summer at Yellowstone National Park where he served as the Old Faithful manager.  He also spent three years at Grant Village, WY, working at the Service Station as a wrecker operator and mechanic.  Bill was an active member of the Atlanta Baptist Church serving on many missions.
    Bill is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; three children, Marc Lent of Columbia, MO, Jeffrey Lent of Macon, Gina Zuccarini of Atlanta; one grandson, Aden Zuccarini, one brother, Jerry Lent of Jamesport, MO, three sisters; Ruth Whitney of McFall, MO, Betty Lou Newman of Stover, MO, Rosalee Gleason of LaPine, OR, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jim Lent.
    Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Atlanta Baptist Church in Atlanta with Reverend Chance Glenn officiating.  Visitation will be Friday evening September, 13, 2013, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon.  Burial will be in Jamesport Memorial Cemetery at Jamesport, MO at a later date.
    Memorials are suggested to the Atlanta Baptist Church.
