  • The Macon Police Department is investigating several burglaries and thefts of copper wire and scrap metal from the Municipal Utilities owned storage shed on Malone Street.
"Scrap metal has become a huge market to steal right now because of the cost," said Macon Police Chief Steve Olinger. "They have been stealing several hundred pounds of copper. Just leftover pieces of electrical line that utility crews can still use."
On July 21, police became aware of another burglary attempted at this location. With the assistance of the Macon County Sheriff's Department, two adult males and one juvenile male were located and placed into custody for attempted burglary and other violations. All three suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department and Sheriff's Office for further questioning.
The Macon County Juvenile Office was contacted to assist with the 15-year old black male juvenile. As a result of the investigation, the 18-year old male was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges. The Macon Police Department has applied for and obtained warrants on Schuyler J Donelson, 18 of Macon, for attempted burglary. Donelson is currently being held on $9,000 bond. A 17-year old white male was questioned and released pending further investigation.
"The investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are pending at this time," said Olinger.
