The Macon County Back-to-School Health and Safety Fair for Macon County children Kindergarten through 5th grades will be held on Saturday, August 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Expo Building at the Macon County Park on Hwy 63 South in Macon. New games and activities and exhibits as well as the familiar ones will take place this year. School supplies and health and safety information will be plentiful.
This event is free of charge. Participants must reside in Macon County. Children must attend school in Macon County and be present to receive their bag of school supplies. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Younger and older siblings are welcome to participate in the fair but will not receive school supplies. They may, however, participate in all of the games and activities. There will be parking in front of the Expo Building and along the driveway through the park. Please do not park on the west side of the Expo building as this space is reserved for the rescue vehicles and the Air Evac Helicopter. Please exercise extreme caution as you make your way through traffic and parked cars. We appreciate your cooperation.
The Emergency and Rescue Squad vehicles and Air Evac helicopter will be present. The Roll Car will be there from the Troop B Highway Patrol. There will be indoor and outdoor games and many other fun activities. More than 30 organizations and agencies will provide give aways, games and activities for the children in our county that teach health and safety concepts. Some of the exhibitors include the Macon County Health Department; the Macon Fire and Police Departments; the Macon County Extension Center, 4-H; the Department of Transportation; the area schools and child care centers; area churches; area banks; and health-related organizations.
The Back-to-School Health and Safety Fair is sponsored by the Macon County Health Department, the Family Support Division, the Macon County Extension Center, NECAC, Macon/Atlanta State Bank and representatives from the LaPlata School, Atlanta School, Tri-County School and Macon R-1 School.
