  • Archie Lee Wardell, 88, of Macon, MO, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2013, at the Macon Health Care Center in Macon.
    Archie was born on April 26, 1925, in Bevier, MO, the son of Walter and Elsie (Snell) Wardell.  He was a graduate of Callao High School.  Archie served his country in the United States Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.  He was united in marriage to Ruby Britt on August 28, 1948.  Archie was a member of the Compass Church in Naperville, IL, served on the Board of Regions of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, was a great supporter of conservative causes, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading.
    He is survived by one daughter, Brenda L. Holmlund and husband, Gary in Santa Rosa, CA, one son Raymond Wardell of Naperville, IL; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, and Michael Holmlund, Stacia Clark, Lauren, James, Alexondra, and Luke Wardell;  five great-grandchildren Tyler and Jayden Clark; Levi and Aria Holmlund and Lillian Leahy.
    Archie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby (Britt) Wardell and one brother Harold Wardell.
    Lunch will be served prior to the funeral service at 12:30 pm Tuesday at the Kaseyville Baptist Church in Kaseyville, MO.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the Kaseyville Baptist Church, in Kaseyville.  Burial with Full Military Honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macon.  Visitation will be Monday evening May 13, 2013, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon.  Memorials can be made to Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
