  • On Saturday, 55 participants attended the 2nd annual Martha McDowell Memory Crop at the First Christian Church in Macon.
    The event, formerly known as Hop-to-Crop, was renamed last year in memory of founder Martha McDowell.
    Each participant paid a registration fee for the day which included snacks and lunch. There were several raffles and drawings held throughout the day.
    Scrapbooking enthusiasts from the area attended as well as some from Columbia, Springfield and Montgomery County.
    Mela Linn and Arlene Theerman were in charge of the registration table. "We had 250 donated food items and collected $475 in donations for the Macon County Ministries Emergency Food Pantry," said Theerman.
    Linda Ellis was the event chairperson. Kathy Foley and Kathryn Whisenand were in charge of unloading and sorting. The kitchen was under the direction of Ellen Gehringer and Mary Ross. Committee members included: Jenny Gabriel, Lois Stueve, Mary Besgrove, Pam Cosby and Lola Rist.
    Five vendors set-up booths during the day. A number of local businesses and organizations made donations to make the event a success.
