  • On Wednesday at approximately 8:40 a.m., the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting suspect in the 800 block of South Missouri Street. The suspect reportedly fled on foot south of the business. Upon arrival, police located the suspect near the Macon County Fairgrounds and placed the suspect into custody. A vehicle and other occupants remained at the reporting business. During the course of the investigation, the police department located a possible meth lab contained within the vehicle near a set of gas pumps and secured the area. The North Missouri Drug Force was called to assist at the scene. The lab was dismantled and removed from the area safely. Numerous items of evidence related to the manufacture of methamphetamine were seized. The Macon Police Department was also assisted by the Macon Fire Department at the scene. At this time, police have three additional suspects in custody and the investigation is ongoing. Chief Steve Olinger states more information will be released when the investigation is completed.
