  • A man on the state's sex offender list has now been accused of stalking a 12-year-old Macon girl.
William Darrell Joyner, 45, of Macon, was arrested in the 500 block of Roe Lane on February 12 for stalking a juvenile. He was taken into the Macon Police Department for questioning and after further investigation has been charged with aggravated stalking.
According to the probable cause statement provided by the Circuit Court of Macon County, Joyner was living with the victim's family for a short period of time when he expressed romantic love for the child. He stated him and the child were soul mates. At the request of the family, Joyner moved out. However after his move, Joyner still contacted the family via text messages. During an interview with Joyner, he admitted his need for contact with the victim. He has also been accused of driving near the families home and her school bus stop on multiple occasions.
Joyner is on the sex offender registry after being convicted for lewdness involving a child in West Valley, Utah in 2002.
His arraignment was held on Feb. 14.
Joyner is being held at the Macon County Jail under no bond because the defendant is considered a danger to the victim and the community. He has his preliminary hearing on February 28 at 2:30 p.m. in front of Judge Philip Prewitt. The defendant pleads not guilty.
