SERVICES CHANGED DUE TO THE WEATHER:
Visitation and funeral services for Kent Walker, 86, of Clarence have been changed. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence.
Kent Walker, age 86, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Moberly Medical Center in Moberly, MO.
He was born February 1, 1927, in Anabel, MO, the son of Preston V. and Madge Pritchard Walker. In 1952 he was united in marriage to Billie Jane Day at the First Baptist Church in Columbia, MO. She survives.
Kent is also survived by four children, Beth Anne Walker of Scottsdale, AZ, John Preston Walker and wife Lynn of Anabel, MO, Mark Taylor Walker of Macon, MO and Jane Lynn Walker of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, Preston, Jenny, Tyler, Courtney, Meagan, Jordan and Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Emory and Emalyne; one sister, Roxie White of Richmond, VA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Preston and Wendell Walker and two sisters, Jeanette Spellman and Mary Maupin.
Kent was a graduate of the Clarence High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Macon, MO. He graduated from the University of Missouri where he was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. He was an active Rotary Club member, Samaritan Memorial Hospital board member and a proud supporter of University of Missouri athletics. He was active with the VFW, Clarence Rural Fire Department and the Rural Water District.
Kent loved spending time with friends and family, working on the family farm and cheering on Mizzou and the Cardinals.
