    A surprise birthday party was held for Melissa Howe on Dec. 1 at the Elmer Community Building with 40 guests in attendance.  Her mother, Cindy Koonce, fixed a supper for the occasion. Decorations were in place and there was a cake for the occasion.  Melissa thought it was a surprise party for someone else.
    Dean and Pam Burris attended the Christmas program at Hatton Chapel Methodist Church on Dec. 9.  Mady recited The Lord’s Prayer and Mady and Maddox played bells.  Melanie and Pam sang. They ate a taco supper.  The Burrises spent the night with the Tiptons in Trenton.
    Elmer Baptist Church held its Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 16. It was titled “Honk The Hairy Angels.”  There were 32 present.  Molly and Tucker Waddle were the characters in the skit.  Madison Peavler played “Hark the Herald Angel Sing” and “Deck the Halls” on the piano and “Jingle Bells” on the flute and read scripture.  Jaron Peavler read scripture and was a shepherd.  Tucker Waddle read scripture and was an angel.  The other angels were Jasey Bell, Megan and Madison Peavler and Charity Wills.   The other shepherds were Brody Hatcher and J—Dean Burkholder.    Pastor Zach’s sermon was from Luke 2. There was a  carry-in dinner following the program.
