  • Macon Fire Prevention Officer Olin Roper, assisted by Pluggie, is pictured giving a program on fire prevention to Macon R-1 the morning Tiger Cub’s class and Nuts & Bolts Pre-school students on Thursday. The Macon Fire Department is presenting programs as a part of National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 7 - 13. Programs were also scheduled at Macon County Headstart, Macon Elementary School, Tri-County Christian School, Immaculate Conception School and the Community Child Development Center. Roper said that this year’s theme is: “Have 2 Ways Out”. The National Fire Prevention Association urges every home to create a home fire escape plan with two ways out of each room and discuss it with the whole family. C-H photo by Deb Keithley
