The 51st Ethel Harvest Jubilee is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27 & 28 in the city park. The activities will begin on Friday with the sale of Road Apple Bingo numbers from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. Deep fried tenderloins and funnel cakes will be featured at the Jubilee Food Stand. A Prince and Princess contest is scheduled to begin at 7:20 p.m. Musical entertainment for the evening will be the Medicine Creek Band, a county group from Marceline. They are scheduled on stage for performances at 7:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. At 9:45 p.m. the Ethel Harvest Jubilee Queen Coronation will take place.
On Saturday morning things will get underway with a sausage and pancake breakfast in the park from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Registration for the baby show will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the park. The baby show will begin at 10 a.m. with five categories for boys and girls from age's birth to 36 months. At noon there will be kid's games, races and a money search.
On Saturday evening patrons can enjoy BBQ sandwiches at the Jubilee Food Stand beginning at 5 p.m. A homemade ice cream social is scheduled to follow at 5:30 p.m. At 6 p.m. the Ethel Ridges Runners 4-H Club will present a skit.
At 7 p.m. the musical group Old Town Jamboree will take the stage for their first performance. Following at 7:45 p.m., the family resemblance contest, and audience contests of the oldest, youngest, farthest distance, longest married couple and longest Ethel resident will take place. Old Town Jamboree will go back on stage at 8:30 p.m.
Also scheduled during the event are bingo, attendance drawings, ring toss, bounce house and slide. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.
