Macon Elementary School faculty contacted the School Resource Officer Adam Dawdy, when a woman in a vehicle was attempting to leave the school parking lot in an erratic fashion while children were exiting the buildings and buses were being loaded Thursday afternoon.
According to Macon Police Chief Steve Olinger, the woman parked her vehicle in a location that interfered with the loading of the buses.
The woman was identified as Justina Griffin, 32, of Macon.
“She became very angry when she was told to move her vehicle,” Chief Olinger said. “School officials were concerned about the safety of the children. We had received a report that the vehicle possibly brushed up against a child.”
Around 3:30 p.m. the police department was contacted to assist at the scene. She had contacted her husband and he later arrived at the scene and began yelling profanities.
“The woman driving the vehicle was uncooperative and yelling profanities as officers approached the woman,” Chief Olinger said. “She attempted to get back in her car, then fled on foot.” She was apprehended near the elementary school playground.
Griffin was charged with peace disturbance, resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer. She posted a $7,000 bond at the Macon County Sheriffs Office.
