After scoring a nice rebound win over Bucklin, the Bevier Wildcat boys faced off against the Keytesville Tigers Friday night for 5th place at the Keytesville Tourney.
Bevier was forced to play without big man Jesse Ashenfelter, who was feeling sick and did not play.
His teammates would pick up the slack in his absence and help the Wildcats to a 54-48 win and a 5th place trophy.
Brett Peukert led the Wildcats with 22 points and three steals. Peukert would hit six three’s in the game, three of them in the fourth period to seal the deal.
McKenzey Pipes scored 15 points with eight boards, three assists and four steals, also taking five charges. Aaron Peter had 10 points and eight boards. Andrew Peter had five points, nine rebounds and seven steals.
Guards Jean Fiquet and Seth Shurvington had the duty of providing full-court pressure the whole game and forcing multiple turnovers.
The Wildcats improve to 5-10 overall.
The Lady Cats would avenge an earlier loss in the 3rd place game, as they would beat the Lady Tigers of Marceline 62-53.
Valle Wilson led the Lady Cats with 21 points, four rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Beth Ashenfelter scored 19 points with four boards, two steals and an assist.
Cheyenne Shelmadine had 12 points with 10 rebounds, a double-double, with an assist.
Dominica Prokup had six points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Tayler Hedworth added four points, 13 rebounds and a steal.
The Lady Cats improve to 10-6 overall.
