La Plata sweeps Bevier in non-TCC action

In a pair of games between deep-seeded TCC rivals, the Bevier Lady Cat and Wildcat basketball teams played host to a non-TCC match with the La Plata Bulldogs.
In the girls match, it was relatively close for awhile.
After La Plata led Bevier by four, 19-15, after the first eight minutes, the Lady Dogs turned it on to lead 34-19 after a half.
Things only got worse for the Lady Cats, as their opponent would outscore them 29-22 in the second half to secure a 63-41 win for La Plata.
Valle Wilson led the Lady Cats with 10 points and 10 rebounds, a double-double,  and four assists. Cheyenne Shelmadine followed with eight points and six rebounds.
Tayler Hedworth scored eight points, grabbing 14 rebounds and one assist. Dominica Prokup scored seven points, six rebounds and two assists.
Beth Ashenfelter scored six points and two rebounds,  and Alex Fesler added two points.
The Lady Cats fall to 2-2 on the season.
No information for the Lady Dogs was available at press time. La Plata climbs to 3-1 overall.
In the boys match, the Bulldog machine continued  to chug right along, as the La Plata boys outscored Bevier 12-5 in the first quarter.
That machine went into overdrive in the second, as the Bulldogs dropped an  incredible 35 points on the Wildcats, holding them to 12, to take a 47-17 halftime lead.
Things continued to go right for La Plata in the   second half, as they scored another 21 points in the third period, then nine in the fourth, holding Bevier to a combined 16 points in the half, giving the Bulldogs a great non-conference win, 77-33, over their rivals from Bevier.
Taylor Wheeler was a force under the basket, and from outside. He scored 22 points to lead La Plata. Birdie Buck followed with 15 points.
Peyton Swift scored 12 points. Hayden Fouch scored nine points. Christian Bunch scored seven points.
Taylor Herron scored six points. Weston Smith tallied five points, and Kyle Larson added one point.
Wade Teter scored 14 points to lead Bevier. McKenzey Pipes scored nine. Jean Fiquet scored five points. Brett Peukert tallied four points, and Cody Fiquet added one point.
La Plata moves to 3-0, while Bevier falls to 0-3. La Plata will travel to Bucklin Friday night, while Bevier plays host to North Shelby Friday.
