The Macon junior varsity basketball teams played their final home games of the season Thursday night against the Tigers of Marceline.
The Tigerettes stayed in front of Marceline the whole night. Leading 12-8 after the first, and 24-19 at halftime.
Macon was up 35-34 in the third, and held on for the 46-42 victory.
Alex Blodgett had a monster night, scoring 20 points. Allison Bright scored 9 points.
Kierstin Johnson scored 6 points. Paige Klocke and Rebecca Tucker each tallied 4 points, and Trinity Rainey added 3 points.
The JV Tigerettes improve to 5-8 overall and will play Palmyra Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Knox Co. Tournament.
The Macon Tiger boys got out to fast start, taking an 18-10 lead on Marceline in the first frame.
The other Tigers would not go down easy in this one. Marceline came storming back to get within 32-30 of Macon at halftime.
The Macon Tigers outscored Marceline by three in the third period, taking a 48-45 lead into the final frame.
Both teams broke out in the fourth quarter. Marceline did outscore Macon 21-19 in the period. It came down to a last-second shot by Marceline that didn’t fall.
Macon held on to beat Marceline by the count of 67-66.
Tyler Jackman led the Macon Tigers with 13 points. Taquan Kelly followed with 10 points.
Carl Jennings scored 7 points. Jacob Klingsmith, Tyler Shoemaker and Kody Johnson each scored 6 points.
Trapper Troy, Tyrone Walker and Nic Hamilton each scored 4 points.
Andre Reynolds tallied 3 points. Henry Walker and Kendall Kothe each added 2 points.
The Macon Tigers remain undefeated, improving to 14-0 on the season, and will play Schuyler Co. Monday night at 5:45 p.m. in the Knox Co. Tournament.
