The Atlanta Hornets looked to get back on the winning track Friday night in Novinger, but the Wildcats would have none of it.
The Lady Hornets got in trouble early, as Novinger outscored them by 13 to take a 17-4.
Things only got worse for Atlanta, as the Lady Wildcats scored 21 more points in the second period to take a 38-18 halftime lead.
Novinger would seal the deal in the second half, outscoring Atlanta 20-8 to claim a 58-26 victory.
“We played another game without subs,” Lady Hornet coach Amanda Miller said.
“Our shots didn’t fall, but all of their’s did. We broke the press well but still couldn’t convert to points once down there.
Amanda Spearman led the Lady Hornets with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block.
Miranda Hruska scored 6 points, 4 rebounds and an assist. Shelby Tipton scored 3 points, 9 rebounds, a steal and a block.
Cindy Erwin tallied 2 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Amelia Smothers added 1 point, 5 rebounds and a steal.
The Lady Hornets fall to 2-12 overall and 2-4 in the Tri-County Conference.
The Hornet men got into a hole early, as Novinger scored 16 points in the first to take a 16-6 lead.
The Wildcats would increase their lead in the second, outscoring Atlanta 13-6 to take a 29-12 halftime lead.
Novinger would outscore the Hornets 30-21 the rest of the way to clinch a 59-33 victory.
Derek Jackson led the Hornets with 8 points. Mick Garnett and Travis Miller followed with 6 points each.
Jesse Likes scored 4 points. Brady Bogart cashed in 3 points.
Nathaniel Lush, Joe Harris and Aaron Sampson each added 2 points.
The Hornets fall to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in the Tri-County Conference.
The Atlanta basketball teams take part in the La Plata Tournament this week.
The Lady Hornets will play the Lady Tigers of Canton tonight at 4:30 p.m. The Hornet men will take on the host Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m.
