Fayette, Mo. -

Tyler Belt, a 2007 graduate of Macon H.S., is now a sophomore linebacker at Central Methodist University in Fayette. Belt and his teammates finished 6-4 in the HAAC, losing only to nationally ranked teams. It was CMU’s first winning season in football for the last 18 years. Central also earned a national ranking with several conference wins early in the season. Belt was selected to the 2009 HAAC All-Conference football team. Due to an early season injury, Belt started in just eight of the ten conference games, but was still able to finish 3rd in tackles for his team. He had a career high 15 tackles against conference opponent Benedictine. Tyler and his teammates also traveled to Mexico City and participated in the 2009 Aztec Bowl at the site of the 1968 Olympics. Belt also was honored this year in academics. Tyler was the recipient of both the NAIA and HAAC 2009-10 Scholar Athlete awards. Belt is an athletic training major at CMU.
