Carol Ann Freels, age 65, of Kirksville, MO, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at 2:37 p.m., surrounded by her family, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina with Rev. Jim Bilbro presiding. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shelbina Cemetery She was bom July 23, 1946, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Lewis Vernon and Frances H. Hughes Purdy. On December 29, 1967, she was united in marriage to Larry Freels at Shelbina, MO. He survives.

Carol Ann is also survived by one daughter Kimberly Ann Young and husband Bryan of LaPlata, MO; two grandchildren, Landon and Brandon Young of LaPlata, MO; one step-gmddaughter, Ashley Young of Eldridge, MO; one sister by heart, Anita Ivey of Richland, MO; two aunts, Maurine Thompson and Oneita Purdy both of Shelbin~ MO; her special pet Tinkerbell and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol Ann was a 1964 graduate of Shelbina High School and was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church. She was employed by the Shelbina Democrat, the Daily Guide in Waynesville, MO and for twenty-one years she worked side by side with her husband at the Kirksville Daily Express. Carol Ann enjoyed visiting with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
