Homer Lee Phillips, Sr. age 76 of Callao, Missouri and formerly of Hallsville, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Boone Hospital Center.

He was born on March 28, 1933 in Cookville, Missouri, the son of the late John Herman Phillips and Mable Culver Phillips. He was united in marriage to the late Vietta Pegijean “Peggy” Phillips on April 18, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2003.

Survivors include his children, Homer Lee Phillips, Jr. and wife Fran, John Anthony Phillips and wife Marcia, Michael David Phillips and wife Zena, Vietta Marie Hale and husband Tom, Deana Lynne Phillips and Misty Dawn Robb and husband Clifford; siblings, Betty Smith, Velma McNary and husband Emery, Patricia Cogzell and husband Don, Arthur Phillips and wife Shirley and Bill Phillips; 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Homer was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Sue Kelsey, grandson, Jonathon Andrew Phillips and sisters, Mary Hill and Wilma Rabe.

Homer worked for Vets Auto Body Repair from 1951 until 1981. He then owned and operated his own shop, Homer’s Auto Body. Homer also farmed for several years and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, trail riding, auctions and spending time with his family.  

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
