Arnold Odell Johnson, 76, of Macon passed away Thursday morning, August 26, 2010 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. He was born in Macon, January 3, 1934, the son of Alva and Lennie Coffman Johnson. Arnold owned and operated Midstate Siding for many years. He also worked with several construction companies throughout his life. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed hunting. He was a member of The Gospel Center Church of Macon.
Arnold married Imogene Brown on December 12, 1952 and then married Maurita Lyda on April 1, 1976. Survivors include 7 sons; Greg Johnson of Macon, Tim Johnson and wife Gerri of Macon, Tony Johnson and wife Laura of Kansas City, Mo., Kurtis Johnson and wife Jennifer of Clarence, Mo., Junior Johnson and wife Kay of Macon, Matt Johnson and wife Stasha of Moberly, Mo., Vince Hummer and friend Tammy of Kansas City, Mo, and 10 daughters; Sharon Milburn and husband Alan of Holden, Mo., Cyndi Hummer and husband, the late Bud Hummer of Hannibal, Mo., Debbie Johnson and friend Steve of Odessa, Mo., Kelly Miller and fiance Randy Morris of St. James, Mo., Lisa Wyant and husband Mark of Moberly, Mo., Kim March and husband Gale of Macon, Mo., Pam Maloney and husband Jim of Macon, Mo., Kristi Stroppel and husband Mark of Cairo, Mo., Sandy Rector of Macon, and Tracee Olson of Kansas City, Mo,; 56 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Barbara Johnson of Atlanta; neices, nephews, cousins and one faithful friend Billy Fitzgerald.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maurita Johnson, one son, Randy Dale Johnson, 1 brother; Ortho Johnson, and 2 sisters; Leatha Day and Ruby Loughery; and best buddy Zach.
Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon. Services are under the direction of Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta. Casket bearers are Jr. Johnson, Tony Johnson, Timmy Johnson, Greg Johnson, Kurtis Johnson, Vince Hummer, Ricky Bradley. Honorary bearers will be his grandsons, great grandsons, and great-great grandsons.
By his request, memorials are to be made to the Randy Johnson Memorial Cancer Fund in memory of his son Randy and wife Maurita.
