Mary Frances (Bishop) Taylor, “Frank”, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in Macon, MO.
Frank was born on November 2, 1923, in Fornfelt, MO, the daughter of Nelson “Jack” and Lelia Anna (Fennell) Bishop. The Bishops lived in Texas in the Rio Grande Valley for Frank’s first 16 years then moved to Macon her junior year in high school.
Frank completed Nurses Training with her RN degree at St. Lukes School of Nursing in 1944. She married Kenneth Taylor, her high school sweetheart on November 4, 1944. They were married 67 years. Ken and Frank have two daughters, Nicki and Pete. Frank spent over 30 years in nursing. She was the first school nurse in the Macon Public Schools. She worked as a full time RN at Samaritan Hospital and part time at Loch Haven Nursing Home. She was an avid reader, a part time golfer, an active member of the YMCA and a fabulous cook! She and Ken loved camping traveling across our great country, and their home in the woods with her flower beds and the families of birds they cared for all year round.
Frank is survived by her husband, Kenneth of the home, two daughters, Nicki and her husband Leland Brown of Birmingham AL, Aileen “Pete” and her husband Jerry Brelsford of Overland Park, KS, five grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Rick Davis, Leigh and her husband Grant Vanderholdt, Eric Knowles and his wife Michelle, Josh Waters and his wife Sarah and Erin Schmidt and her husband Derek, and 8 great grandchildren – Brian, Chase, Will, Taylor, Erica, Ty, Jake, and Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon with Bro. Jim Bolin officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Private family graveside services will be 11:00 am, Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Macon Public Library, or the Macon County Ministries Compassion Center.
