Donald Lee Moffitt, 67, of Macon, MO and formerly of Winigan and Kirksville died Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 2010 near his home following a fall from a  mule.
     The son of Howard Donald and Garnett (Bailey) Moffitt he was born September 14, 1942 in Kirksville.  On January 19, 1964 he married Cheryl Lynn Baker, who preceded him in death on December 6, 1975.  Two children were born to this marriage.  On November 1, 1986 he married Judy Mae Kirkpatrick, who preceded him in death on March 6, 1996.  On October 18, 1997 he married Deborah Lynn Duncan, who survives.
  Also surviving is his mother, of Winigan; two children: Michael Moffitt, of Winigan, and Michelle Hall, of Sturgeon, MO; four stepchildren: Amber Guthrie, of Moberly, Rustin Garnett, of New Bloomfield, MO, Lisa Griffin, of Worthington, MO, and Derick Kirkpatrick, of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Dianne King, of Macon; two brothers: John Moffitt, of Winigan, and Howard (Howie) Moffitt, of Trenton, MO; two grandchildren: Andrew and Alayna Hall; and three step-grandchildren: Trevin, Dominick, and Kyler Guthrie.
     In addition to his wives he was preceded in death by his father, on September 18, 2009.
        Don was raised in the Winigan community and graduated from Green City High School in 1961.  Following graduation he was employed in Kansas City until returning to the Winigan area in the mid-1960’s.  Following his return he was employed with area farmers until joining Toastmaster, Inc., where he was employed in Kirksville and Macon for the next 30 years.  Following his retirement in 1996 he farmed in the Winigan community before moving to Macon in 2007.
     He was a member of the Winigan Christian Church, the Moose Lodge in Kirksville, the Winigan 4-H Club, the Macon Saddle Club, and the Macon YMCA.
       Don enjoyed showing cattle, riding horses, fishing, hunting, trail riding, and his mules.  He also enjoyed dancing and Professional Bull Riding.  He was intensely devoted to his grandchildren, and loved attending basketball games with his family.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Home in Green City with Steve Young officiating.  Music will be furnished by Julie King, singing “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”, and Damon and Cheryl Crist singing “Daddy’s Hands”, with Debbie Young, pianist.  Burial will be in the Winigan Cemetery.  Casket Bearers will be Nathan King, Matthew Moffitt, Wayne Baker, Bennie Long, Larry Carmack, and Robert Ware.  Honorary Bearers will be Jamie King, Vernon Reed, Ronnie Switzer, and Jerry Parrish.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Winigan Christian Church.
