A three-vehicle accident occurred Thursday, Jan. 19 at approximately 4:15 p.m. at US Highway 63 at Southeastern Drive in Macon.

According to the Macon Police Department, a northbound vehicle driven by John Jones, 78, of Novelty, crossed into the center turn lane, then into the southbound lane striking a vehicle driven by Dickie Teter, 45, of Bucklin, and then striking a vehicle driven by John Bloom Jr., 62,  of Ewing.

The report stated that Teter was southbound in front of Bloom and noticed that the Jones vehicle was crossing the center line. Teter swerved to the right, attempting to avoid a crash with the Jones’ vehicle, but was unsuccessful and the two vehicles struck.

Bloom noticed the collision between the two other vehicles and attempted to avoid impact by swerving into the center lane. He was unsuccessful and also struck the Jones vehicle.

Jones told officers that he did not know what happened and did not realize that he had crossed the center lane. All he remembered was being hit by other vehicles.
Several injuries were reported, but all parties declined medical treatment.
All vehicles sustained major damage and were all towed from the scene.
