The 5th Annual “Larry Welch’s Babes for a Cure” Softball Game was held Saturday night at Don Schelle Field in Macon. This year’s game featured players from a variety of workplaces, including law enforcement, firemen, computer tech, utility workers and even two local pastors. Participants dressed in ladie’s clothing and played softball with a few twists, such as running the bases in reverse order and catching the ball with purses. Between the gate and concession stand, the event raised an estimated $1,100 according to Modeste Ewing, team captain for the Macon Police Department and Macon City Fire Department team, who hosted the ballgame. Rexall’s Coconuts for a Cure team was in charge of the concession stand. The funds raised are being donated to the Macon County Relay For Life. The Relay is to be held next Saturday.
