One-vehicle fatality south of Ethel

Ethel, Mo. -

A 71-year-old Ethel man was pronounced dead at the scene by a Macon County Deputy after a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning south of Ethel.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 11:08 a.m., a 2000 Buick, driven by John Jones, was northbound on Highway 149, one mile south of Ethel, when his vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, then traveled off the east side of the roadway, down a hill and came to rest in a ditch.
Patrol said Jones was not wearing a seat belt.
Jones was transported to Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon.
The patrol was assisted by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Macon County Ambulance,  Macon County Rescue Squad, and Ethel First Responders.
