Last Thursday the Jackson Street Park in Macon came alive with children during the Macon R-1 Parent’s as Teachers Read First! event. Several stations were set up throughout the park for children to have an opportunity to have a story read to them. Those who attended received small gifts of pinwheels, books, newspaper hats, coloring pages and crayons and tiny potted plants to name just a few. It was a night for children to let their imaginations run wild with fun and story time. The Macon City Fire Department had a fire engine there for the kids to check out and the Rotary Club served hot dogs, drinks, and cookies.
