A special award was presented to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, in honor of the late David “Davey” Gwin, a former Chief Jailer. Gwin suffered a heart attack on June 24, 2007 while wrestling with an inmate. He died shortly after. Gwin had served with the Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. A special award was presented to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, in honor of the late David “Davey” Gwin, a former Chief Jailer.
