The Macon Rural Fire Department purchased a newer tanker truck a few months ago. Lt. Adam Johnston, with the MRFD, said the truck is not in full service yet due to some minor details that need to be addressed. The cost of the truck was $29.000. The 4,000 gallon tanker truck the department was using belonged to Missouri Department of Conservation and it needed to be returned. The MRFD now operates with two tanker trucks, two engines, three brush trucks and a rehab truck that carries items needed for a hazardous spill. The MRFD operates on membership dues. Fire Chief James Wilson said they currently have 800 memberships. The department covers six townships, Eagle, Ten Mile, Hudson (omitting the city of Macon), Middle Fork, Narrows, and Round Grove. For more information about membership dues you may contact Fire Chief James Wilson 660-385-3026.
