Nuts and Bolts Preschoolers graduate

The 2010 Nuts and Bolts Preschool class held their graduation Thursday night in the high school cafeteria Thursday night. The children performed songs and were treated with cupcakes and punch following the graduation.

Macon High School Cheerleaders raise funds for Mac costume

The Macon High School Cheerleaders assisted the carhops at the Sonic Drive-In Thursday night as a fundraiser. The cheerleaders participated in the fundraiser to help raise money for a new "Mac" costume.

Macon R-I FBLA installs new officers

The Macon Future Business Leader’s of America held their annual awards reception on Tuesday, May 4 in the High School cafeteria. FBLA members, their parents, administrators, and other honored guests were in attendance. Julie Jacobs conducted the installation of new officers for the 2010-11 year, pictured from left to right, front row: Michaela Grahlman, Secretary; Nic Hamilton, Treasurer; Alex Blodgett, President; Kaytlin Collins, Vice President; and Alex Richardson, Historian-Reporter. Back row, junior officers: Kaylea Bork, Secretary; Tyler Shoemaker, Treasurer; Jessa Glover, President; Jordan Olinger, Vice President; and Tiffany Shinn, Historian-Reporter. FBLA members, their parents, administrators, and other honored guests were in attendance for the reception. Ashley Riley, Chapter President, welcomed everyone. District and State Contest award winners were presented with certificates and medals. Ashley Riley and Alex Blodgett, FBLA Business Achievement award winners, were given their pins to show their accomplishments.

Macon hosts Annual Regional Math Contest

Macon R-I Elementary students in grades 4-6 competed in the 25th annual Regional Math Contest on March 27 in the Macon Middle School Auditorium.  Here are the top three things that came out of last night’s school board meeting:
A weighted grading system was approved.
June 1 & 2 were scheduled as make-up days.

Macon R-I band students shine at district contest

The Macon Band department recently participated in the district solo and ensemble festival held at Kirksville High School on Saturday, March 20.  “I felt we had a great day,” said Band Director Jamie Baker. “Judging is getting tougher and more strict each year with judges being instructed on starting at a III rating and then working up towards a I rating as the performance goes along.” By earning a I rating the students will be eligible to enter the state solo/ensemble festival held at the University of Missouri on Thursday, April 29.
