American Education Poster Contest Winners

American Education Week is being observed across the nation this week (Nov. 13 -19). The state-wide theme is “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.” Macon R-1 Schools will be participating in various activities throughout the week in celebration of education. R-1 fourth grade students participated in a poster contest. Students finished the sentence, “I think Macon Elementary is great because...”. and illustrated their thoughts. The annual Macon Optimist Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders was held Saturday, Feb. 26, in the Macon Elementary Cafeteria.

Macon band wins big

Carrollton Band Day awards two Grand Champion trophies, one for the highest 1A-3A band and the other for the highest 4A-5A band in competition. Macon had a combined parade and field score of 189.6 and was awarded the Grand Champion trophy at Carrolton on Saturday

Nuts and Bolts Preschoolers graduate

The 2010 Nuts and Bolts Preschool class held their graduation Thursday night in the high school cafeteria Thursday night. The children performed songs and were treated with cupcakes and punch following the graduation.

Macon High School Cheerleaders raise funds for Mac costume

The Macon High School Cheerleaders assisted the carhops at the Sonic Drive-In Thursday night as a fundraiser. The cheerleaders participated in the fundraiser to help raise money for a new "Mac" costume.

Macon R-I FBLA installs new officers

The Macon Future Business Leader’s of America held their annual awards reception on Tuesday, May 4 in the High School cafeteria. FBLA members, their parents, administrators, and other honored guests were in attendance. Julie Jacobs conducted the installation of new officers for the 2010-11 year, pictured from left to right, front row: Michaela Grahlman, Secretary; Nic Hamilton, Treasurer; Alex Blodgett, President; Kaytlin Collins, Vice President; and Alex Richardson, Historian-Reporter.
