LAPLATA - Sixty-four family members and friends attended the 36th Hoffman, Still, Henderson, Boyd family reunion Saturday, May 24, at the American Legion building in LaPlata,. The reunion is held annually for the descendents of George and Christina (Yost) Hoffman, who immigrated from Germany in the 1800s. Hostesses were: Linda Ruth Bush, Andee Bush, and Nelba Shockley.
This year’s theme was First Family Birthday Party, with special emphasis placed on two Boyd descendants: Ernie Boyd who will be 90 years old in July, and Mary Elizabeth Sweezer who turned 80 in April. Their niece/cousin, Ruthie Bush, made and decorated unique cakes for them which were placed on a special table. All family members who are celebrating a decade birthday in 2008 were also recognized. Birthday banners were hung, and festive tables lined the hall, decorated with birthday tablecloths, party favors and balloons. The party began at noon. Ruthie Bush welcomed everyone followed by a reading entitled Family brought by Willard Koger and read by Nelba Shockley. Donald Epperson began the carry-in meal with a prayer of blessing.

Before and after lunch, the day was filled with conversation, laughter, and photo taking.
