During June, July and August, matching funds grant checks for rural fire departments are being distributed by Missouri Department of Conservation Forestry Division staff. Fire departments (177) will be receiving checks up to $3,000 to help them with the purchase of personal protective gear and firefighting equipment. Pictured is Jason Miller (left), fire chief of the Callao Town and Country Fire Dept., receiving a check from Lonnie Rager (right), resource assistant for the Missouri Dept. of Conservation, for $1,037.50. With the matching funds, five adaptors, two valves, eight headlamps and one chainsaw were purchased. Also pictured, Travis Duncan (left), fire chief of the New Cambria Volunteer Fire Dept, received a check for $600. With the matching funds, four HH radios were purchased.
