Shelbina businesses destroyed by fire

Fire destroyed three businesses in downtown Shelbina Wednesday night.
It was reported that the fire began around 10:30 p.m. Authorities are saying it looked like the fire started near the Sam’s Auto business. Numerous fire departments from surrounding areas answered the call for assistance including the Macon Rural Fire Department.
Jamie Wilson, fire chief for the Macon Rural Fire Department,said he received a call around 12:30 a.m. asking for his department’s assistance.
“Four men responded with a tanker truck and a pumper truck. Some of the men are still at the scene,” Chief Wilson said around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The three businesses which were involved are Gary’s Auto, Chicken Coop, Photos to Remember, and Rash’s Barber Shop received smoke and water damage
Authorities were asking travelers to avoid the area of Highway 15 and Center Street through Shelbina this morning due to heavy smoke.
