Annual bus inspection for area schools was held Thursday, Feb. 2, in the bus barn of Macon R-1 School District. The inspections are conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Atlanta, Bevier, Callao, LaPlata, Macon R-1, Macon R-4 (New Cambria) all had busses for inspection. One bus from the North Shelby School District was also present. Sgt. Steve Holder of the MSHP Commercial Vehicle Division said that approximately 40 busses were expected. Holder said that all school busses in the state of Missouri are inspected annually during the months of February and March. Twenty-five areas are included in the inspection including brakes, steering and suspension, tires, exhaust system, wipers and emergency doors and equipment. Macon R-1 Bus Mechanic Keith Maloney said that the Macon busses are also inspected again before school begins each year.
