  • Marjorie Katherine Meissen, 78, of the Wien community, passed away to her heavenly reward on December 22, 2013 at Chariton Park Nursing Home in Salisbury, MO.  Marjorie was born to Charles B. Schreiner and Mary Agnes Schafer on October 7, 1935.  She taught school in Atchison, Kansas.  On June 1, 1957 she married Joseph Meissen at Immaculate Conception Church in Brookfield, MO.  Marjorie was a housewife and mother to their eight children on their farm in Wien.  She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Sodality of the St. Mary’s Church as well as a former organist of Immaculate Conception Church in Brookfield and at the church in Wien.
        Survivors include her husband, Joseph, and their children and spouses: Marilyn and Jim Stanley, Auxvasse; Donald and Christina Meissen, New Cambria; Charles and Nancy Meissen, Bethany; Stephen and Connie Meissen, New Cambria; Suzanne and Mark Schuchmann, Brunswick; Laura Meissen, Columbia; Julie and Darren Boss, Shawnee, KS; Diane and Sean Thoe, Parkville; as well as 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Marilyn Schreiner.
        A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Wien with Fr. Gregory Tigga officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wien.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 with the rosary at 7:30 PM at the church in Wien.  The family suggest memorials be made to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church and these may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
