  • City of Macon employees gathered together on Monday, November 25, to celebrate two things—service and safety.
"Our employees who stay are a large asset to the community," said City Administrator Allan Muncy. "It is hard to replace experience. Every time we lose someone it is like losing a library because the knowledge they have goes with them. This is just a small way to thank our employees."
Employees got to enjoy a breakfast or lunch at the Apple Basket and plus a little something extra.
"We know this is a small gesture, but it is to show we care," said Mayor Dale Bagley.
City employees were recognized for years of remaining safe while on the job and were also rewarded for their years of service.
The individuals rewarded for longevity are as follows with years of service following each name.
Police: Aric Bowzer (15), Pat Henley (13), Steve Olinger (11), Bobbie Cosby (11), Jeff Brown (20), Modeste Ewing (17)
Street: Gary Bullock (14), Kevin Maloney (24), Greg Wiggans (29), Gerald Piland (36), Jim McCann (34)

Macon Police Officer Aric Bowzer received a Service Award for 15 years of service. Gary Bullock with the Street Department received a Retirement Award after 14 years of service.
