  • The Macon City Council kept their meeting short and sweet Tuesday evening, but here are a couple things they covered.
First, the City Council voted to change its firework regulations in the future to correlate alongside the state statutes more closely.
Macon Municipal Utilities Director Stephanie Wilson presented in regards to waste water improvements.
"The sludge dewatering equipment is very much at the end of its useful life," said Wilson. "So we would like to take out a low interest loan to replace it. For wastewater there are a lot of regulations we will have to deal with in the future and the way our plant is built, out equipment can't facilitate those requirements."
The City Council approved the loan application for approximately $1.5 million.
Macon Police Chief Steve Olinger also presented on behalf of law enforcement software.
"We have our own server computer which maintains our reports and documents for investigations," said Olinger. "Our computers crashed this summer and luckily we were able to retrieve all of that information again but we are still struggling with our computer issues."
Chief Olinger has come up with a plan to use a web-based server based out of St. Louis.
"A web based ITI system means we would not have to maintain a server in house," said Olinger. "And the ITI Company in St. Louis will have a backup computer so we will hopefully never have to worry about losing our reports again."
The City Council approved this web-based server.
There were also many appointments made during this meeting. Mark Maddox and Darin Eleazarraraz for the Macon County Economic Development Board. Jenae Young and Frank Withrow were reappointed to the Park Advisory Board. Rose Harris was reappointed to the Macon Housing Authority Board and Rusty Neill was reappointed to the Community Child Development Center Board.
