  • Bobbie (Gene) Linson, age 86, of Republic, died October 31, 2013 at Sonshine Manor.   
    Gene was born December 17, 1926 in Shelby County to Wilbur and Zella (Strachan) Linson. He served his country as a soldier in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. On May 29, 1949, he married Gladys Marie Stephenson in Shelbina, Missouri. Together they had three children. He retired in 1986 from Missouri Power and Light Co (AMEREN) after 34+ years of service as a lineman/serviceman in the counties of Shelby, Macon, and Linn. Gene was a member of Republic Christian Church, a life member of the VFW, and enjoyed garage saling, gardening, antiquing, hunting, traveling and fishing. He lived several years in Clarence, New Cambria and Forsyth, Missouri.
    He is preceded in death by his parents.
    Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years; one son, Jerry and Sue Linson, of Republic; two daughters, Carol and Jim Davenport of Jefferson City and Sharon Buescher Yeomans of Seymour; six grandchildren, Amy and her husband Steve Adams, Scott and his wife Kelly Buescher, Jason Buescher, Shane and his wife Carrie Davenport, Cory and his wife Kristina Davenport, Lori and her husband Blake Crockett. He also has thirteen great-grandchildren and several cousins.
    Visitation will be Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2 to 3pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with the memorial service to follow at 3pm.
