The kids who attended the annual Macon Lions Club Halloween parade and costume contest definitely didn't let a little rain stop their parade. Approximately 66 kids in their best Halloween garb marched around the downtown square even in a little drizzle.
"I thought the turnout was great considering the weather and other factors," said Mayor Dale Bagley. "Plus, the costumes were great!"
After the parade, the little ones participated in a costume contest based on age groups.
"I have no idea how the judges picked," said Mayor Bagley. "There were so many great costumes."
There were three winners in each category (pictured above), but the costume winners weren't the only ones to walk away with a prize. Each child, winner or not, left with a candy apple and of course a Halloween must—you guessed it, candy!
The Macon's Lions Club has put this event on for several years and not for any reason but for the kids of Macon County.
"We just put it on for the kids," said Mayor Bagley. "I had a lot of fun and I think the kids did too. All in all, I thought it was a pretty successful event."
