  • On October 24, the Macon Police Department investigated report from a concerned citizen regarding a strong smell of ether coming from a residence in the 700 block of West Goggin Street. Police conducted surveillance in the area following the tip and also noticed a strong smell of ether. Due to this information and officer observations, police made enforcement contact at the residence. Upon arrival at the residence, several occupants were present including two adult residents and two of their children. After consent to search the property was obtained, officers seized substances including methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. As a result, police arrested the two residents of the home, a 27-year old white female and a 28-year old black male, for possession of controlled substance (meth), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, unlawful use/possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a child. Both suspects were transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and were later taken to the Macon County Jail pending formal charges. According to Assistant Chief Jeff Brown, the quick action and reporting of the concerned citizen led police to investigate the situation and act quickly.
Names have not been released at this time.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
