  • Weather permitting, MoDOT crews will be busy at work this week.
October 8-9, MoDOT crews will have traffic reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for pavement repairs on US 36 in Macon County. Work will be completed on October 8 from U.S. 63 to MO 3, and on October 9 from MO 3 to Route C.
Also, to bring awareness to the Route M and U.S. 63 intersection at Atlanta, MoDOT will install flashing yellow lights on the intersection warning signs on U.S. 63 within the next few weeks.
"This is a temporary tactic to help improve safety in the short-term," explained MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner. "We are working with area residents to design a permanent solution and expect to have a major improvement by the end of next year."
Lastly, Thursday, October 10, City of Macon utility crews will be temporarily stopping traffic on east and westbound U.S. 36 just west of Macon to replace overhead power lines. This will take place at approximately 9:30 a.m.
All lanes of traffic will be stopped for approximately 10 minutes, two separate times to complete the work. To avoid delays motorists are urged to use alternate routes during this time. During the work, Missouri State Highway Patrol and City of Macon will assist with traffic control. Motorists are urged to use caution and obey all road construction signs.
