The Board of Public Works had its regular meeting on Monday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Here are a couple things you may have missed.
Under new business, General Manager Stephanie Wilson announced that Macon Municipal Utilities received two grants from MIRMA's annual Risk Management Award Program. The grants, equaling $2,055, will be used to partially finance the purchase of a hydraulic crimper and pole saw for the electric distribution department. Wilson also discussed usage of utilities have decreased across the board which has impacted projected revenues and commodity expenses.
Assistant General Manager Scott Lucas also updated staff on the electric outage that took place on Thursday, September 19. Three outages were experienced in a two hour time span, but it is unknown of the problem. Shermco Industries, Inc. have been contracted to assist with diagnosis of the equipment failure.
Regarding Underground facilities, crews have addressed several water main leak repairs and have jetted 32 sections of waste water mains. Inspections of 3,591 foot of wastewater collection mains has taken place.
