  • The Macon Tiger Marching Band left for their first competition of the season this weekend and came back grand champions.
"Normally we end our first parade competition of the season with me nit-picking the performance," said Director Jamie Baker. "This year, we got finished and I said, 'wow, they nailed it.'"
The competition took place on Saturday, September 28 at Carrollton Band Days. The Macon Marching band earned first place in the field competition, first place in the parade competition, second place in the indoor drumline competition and third place in the indoor flag competition. The band also had the highest combined parade and field score in classes 1A-3A to bring home the Grand Champion trophy.
"The kids gave a pretty consistent performance and I'm very pleased with the results," said Baker. " We still have a lot of room for improvement and I'm very proud of these kids and their work ethic I see everyday in class."
The Macon Marching Band will travel to Fayette Saturday, October 5, to compete in the Central Methodist University Marching Competition.
