The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is encouraging everyone to enjoy the Show-Me-State's great outdoor offerings this Saturday in Honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
According to Conservation Agent Matt Bergfield, there will not be an event in Macon, but it will be celebrated at Mark Twain Lake in Moberly.
Activities will include an archery tournament, shooting range access, fishing pole casting instruction and practice, a BB-gun range, hands-on exhibits and displays, electrofishing and demonstrations, bird dog demonstrations, turkey calling demonstrations, special presentations by conservation groups and concessions.
National Hunting and Fishing Day was created and designated by Congress in 1972. It commemorates conservation successes past and future, and honors those sportsmen and sportswomen who began the modern conservation movement.
