A total of 200 flu shots were administered at the Macon County Health Department's Adult Drive-Thru Clinic held on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Macon County Fairgrounds. Last year 189 shots were given during the clinic.
"We were very pleased with the turnout," said Administrator Judy Rushton. "Especially with the weather."
Assisting the 11 MCHD nurses and staff members were 16 ADN (Associate Degree - Nursing) students from Moberly Area Community College.
According to Jennifer Gordan, RN/BSN the trivalent vaccine contained antigens representing three influenza virus strains.
"Our drive-thru clinic also helps us with Emergency Preparedness and allows us to practice for mass dispensing."
Anyone that was not able to attend Tuesday's clinic may still receive a flu shot at the Heath Department Office at 503 North Missouri St., Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.
"Our supply of regular and high dose vaccine is good," said Rushton. "We also have flu mist ordered and expect it to arrive any day."
